rchive files make reference to this estate as early as 1578, at which time a barn stood on the site of the current château. The construction of the latter probably dates back to the beginning of the 18th century.
The historical past of this location is rich indeed, with claims that Napoleon Bonaparte himself, on an assigment in Avignon, came to the Château Roberty to offer his services to General Fox who had established the headquarters of General Carteaux' army within the castle. The artistic heritage of Chateau Roberty arises from the presence of wallpaper from the Vernet family (Carle and Horace). This work of art representing the "Chasse de Compiègne" is unique in France, thereby justifying its listing as a historic building.
For many people living in the Vaucluse, Château Roberty evokes above all the racecourse, situated within the grounds and host each year throughout the months of May and June to several races, just as it has been for over half a century.
